(More customer reviews)In the picture it looks really shiny, which is partly why I bought it (I had narrowed my search down to this and one other basically identical strainer) and it is very shiny in real life. Also the bottom has a pretty kinda herring bone cross pattern. The whole thing is incredibly durable, which is a plus over mesh tea strainers. The silicon grips on the handles and lid come off easily, which I find irritating (cuz knowing me I'll lose them somehow). However losing the silicon won't impair functionality and I've found that the metal doesn't seem to get burn your fingers hot. I'm still giving it a five because it's a good product even without the silicon.

This strainer will fit in mugs as well as most tea pots. Because it can fit in mugs, it's not deep enough to brew a partial pot of tea (unless you have a shallow tea pot).
