(More customer reviews)This is a handsome and well-working piece of stove-top art, a very good meeting of form and function. I down-graded it from perfect for two reasons:first of all, the color is not really as it appears in the product picture. I would say it is a bit darker than medium blue, but not that dark-yet-brilliant look that truly qualifies as "cobalt" - and it is a noticeably lighter shade of blue than in the photo. Second, while it boils water in a reasonable amount of time, it is not as fast as I'd expect from its big, flat-bottom base (nor what I'd hope for in a kettle priced this high). In several timed tests (admittedly difficult to do with gas burners), it failed to clearly beat to the boil my old leaky no-name kettle that it replaced - mainly for better looks.
On the plus side: between the weighted spout and the excellent heat resistant handle, one handed-operation is safe,easy, and efficient - and the whistle is pleasantly pronounced. Bottom line, this kettle scores high for style points, and works well over-all.
