Ok, I just got this today so Ima step out on a limb here.
I made my first pot of Fresh peppermint tea. I boiled water and filled the cleaned pot,lit a tealite and placed the teapot on the warmerCast Iron Tetsubin Teapot Warmer to temper the pot. I prepared my snipped peppermint from the garden and placed it in a reuseable teabag. Then I got side-tracked for about an hour but, the pot was still very hot from the warmer--You must have the warmer simply because castiron draws from the temperature around it, Therefore it will cool off sooner than epected. just like when you want to thaw a peice of meat relatively fast, put it on cast iron-cast. castiron draws heat from the air and thaws frozen items quicker. Ok back to the teapot. I boiled another pot of water and poured out the original. at this point the pot is still very hot and ready to receive the newly heated water and the peppermint. I put the prepared teabag in, popped in the infuser that came with the teapot- it served in this case only to submerge my teabag- I then placed the teapot cover on and waited. It was Great. The pot maintained its heat without me having to light another tealight and the tea was FAB. I think it lasted atleast an hour 45 mins. would be longer but we had to blow out the tealight before leaving for dinner. try it you will like it.

Product Description:
Phoenix Teas brings these incredible classics to your kitchen, so that you can brew smooth, full-flavored, and enriching tea. Made with purified cast iron and coated with enamel, these sturdy teapots will brew clean, refreshing tea for a long time.

Originating from ancient Japan, Tetsubin teapots were used in the Japanese tea ceremony of chanoyu, 'Way of Tea'. Initially undecorated, an explosion of Asian art during the 19th century transformed these modest teapots into masterpieces. Adorned with geometric, animal, and plant reliefs, Tetsubin teapots became elaborate and a social status symbol. Yet, even with all its beauty, these teapots retained their purpose of brewing a perfect cup of tea. As claimed by many tea experts, tea brewed in Tetsubin teapots tastes much better than tea brewed in anything else.

This is a cast iron tea pot. Prior to first use, thoroughly wash the tea pot with warm water. After each use, empty the tea pot of all contents, and dry the tea pots interior and exterior. The tea pot is suitable for use on electric ranges, gas stoves, induction cookers and halogen burners.

Caution: Do not put the tea pot in a microwave. Use only water to wash the tea pot, as detergents might cause paint deterioration or propagate rust. Do not quench the tea pot.
